I was oversaes and have brought back some nice hardwood which I would like to have cut into veneer. The piece is about 10 feet long, 12 inches wide and about 2 inches thick. I have sucessfully cut some of this with a band saw down to about .125 inches thick but losing the wood in the kerf makes book matching difficult even using a narrow kerf blade. I would like to get this wood cut into veneer (knife cut or however it is done without kerf waste). Anyone know what my options are?
Any information appreciated.

I don't think you have any options. I've never heard of anyone slicing veneer from a board that had already been dried. Now for sure somebody will come along and contradict me. :)

I doubt that you will find anyone to slice this board for you. If you could, the first slice, required to straighten the face, and the back of the board, where the clamps are, will represent more waste than the kerfs from the bandsaw.
If you have a specific use for this veneer,I would cut a piece from the board, slightly larger than needed, and go back to the bandsaw. You should be able to produce sheets quite a bit thinner than the 1/8" you have mentioned.Thank you,Mr.Croney, where ever you may be.

I agree, a commercial veneer mill won't be able to knife-slice this, for the reasons already outlined. a narrow-kerf band mill is the best likely option.

Haven't used them, but they might fit the bill.
