Does anyone now of a school in the northwest (Canada or U.S.) that offers fine woodworking classes? I don’t need a class on how to use a router to make a pine cabinet. I have a workshop that most people would envy. What I want is somewhere I can learn real fine skills. Unless it is close by, I don’t think that say, a year long course would work. I understand that I can learn on my own, but it goes so much slower and more painfully. I would really love to have an apprenticeship with a real craftsman, but it doesn’t look realistic right now. My special interest is Period Furniture. I’m living at home with my parents, and I’m only 19, so I don’t have to have a paying job, per se. I do have lots of work doing carpentry, but I would be willing to stop that (I’m self employed) and learn with a craftsman, on the job. But barring that, Maybe a chippendale chair class or something. Any suggestions? Or any old Grizzled masters willing to take on an eager apprentice?
