Looking to buy a corded 1/2″ hammer drill. I am not a professional but I can’t stand working with junk. Basement remodeling project and garage to workshop conversion. Stone/mortar walls and old, hard concrete. Bosch 8 amp or Milwaukee 5.5 amp?
Appreciate your thoughts.

Bosch by far.
Bosch is the first and last word for a HD except for their pistol grip style. They're light wieghts.
Then there is Hilti.... Big bucks
I suggest a 7/8" or larger SDS Bulldog.

Bosch, no question. Oh, and get a GOOD set of earmuffs. Nothing screams like a hammerdrill. If you can swing it, a rotary hammer is a far better tool for drilling concrete. It is so superior to a hammerdrill, I'm not sure even how to compare the two. If you are drilling into an old floor, say 1950's or older, I would step up to the rotary hammer. Some of those old floors are so tough that you can't even shoot into them. That being said, if you do choose to step up to a rotary hammer, Bosch again should be the choice.
Good Luck, Peace,
John
Thanks- I will probably go with a Bosch 7/8" rotary hammer. Any big difference btween pistol grip v. D-handle? (In terms of durability).
If I were still into rock climbing I would spring for the 3/4" cordless but I'm a fossil now.
D handle is much more user friendly.

D-handle for certain!
