Read all the reviews, checked all the manufacturers sites, and asked on the knots forum; power tools.
Still can not figure out which 13″ planer to buy.
I know there is a lot of discussion regarding; snipe, frequent blade use, noise, chip removal, and ease of use.
I don’t want to be stuck with a pricy tool that I’m unhappy using.
There are so many opinions out there on both sides of the fence for every planer made.
I like your articles in FWW, and I value your opinion. If you were going to buy one for your very favorite friend; which would it be?? Besides your review!
thanks,

Groucho,
You should know that we cannot recommend one manufacturer over another.
[Japanese] That doing so might constitute a breach of ethics. [Starts with an M] And that giving out a recommendation enters murky waters at best as my experience will surely differ from another's. [Ends with an A]
Just know that the 13" planer that I bought worked great, just great, for two years with tender loving care. Once I let other folks use it, then it fell apart quickly. These are not heavy duty tools, but if you take very small passes, do not hog material or run more than one board at a time, they will work well for a long time. Good luck. [Good luck]

Thanks.. I guess they're all making an effort to imitate the bigger brothers. 15"- 23" etc.
