Hi, to everybody & anybody,
This is my first posting on Tool Talk! I have decided to get into wood carving, and I was wondering about carving chisels and knives. I’ve seen the ones made by Pfeil in WoodCraft. I am thinking about joining the Woodworkers Club of Norwalk which is also a WoodCraft distributor. Any thoughts on wood carving tools would be greatly appreciated!

Greetings f4phanatic,
I asked a similar question to yours on knots and the general gist that I got was Pfeil was a high quality tool along with Stubai and Two Cherries. I too have been giving woodcarving a go, since my wife and I are in temporary housing during a re-location from NJ to NC, needed something to keep me busy (no shop time, sigh).
I will pass a long a tip for purchasing Pfeil tools that I found from some message board somewhere along the way, take a look at the prices here http://www.kmstools.com/, that's where I bought some of my tools along with Woodcraft..
Good luck

Thanks for the info, Bobabeui, like you I'm without a shop also. My neighbor had a custom cabinent shop, but when he passed on, his family closed the business. He was an excellent human being, friend & teacher. I will be taking a few carving classes at the Woodworkers Club of Norwalk, eventually I'd like to carve one of those cigar store indians!
