I like the Porter Cable Saw Boss - small, light and easy to handle. It has a smaller depth of cut than the bigger saws, but that seldom bothers me.

I really have to agree with David. I have owned numerous saws, from the cheapie Craftsman and B&D on up. The best one I have had by far has been the Porter Cable.
I like the PC Saw Boss as well. Even though it has a smaller blade, it will easily cut 2 X 4 stock -- either at a 90 or at 45.
For a regular size CS (71/4"), I also like the PC, mainly because it has a dust chute, which you can either use with a bag or a vac. If that feature is not important to you, I think any of the main line CS's would be fine; you can pick based on the one which feels best in your hand and is easiest to manuever.

Thank you for your response. I think the PC Saw Boss is the way I will go. It sounds like it has enough power and I really like the light weight.Ann
put me in the PC category too.
DeWalt, the rear pivot type. I am a professional contractor and see the PC's all of the time and I like a lot about them. I use the DW (The only DW tool I own) because the shoe is wider than the PC, and feels a bit more stable to me. Additionally, The saw is set up so that the saw kerf is 5 1/2" from one side, so when I use a straight edge to cut a panel or a door, it makes the measurements easy. The rear pivot is very nice as well. The front knob loosens to provide a quick, positive depth change. I've used them for over ten years and will buy another one when my "good" saw gets too beat up for finish work. You won't go wrong with the PC, but I think that the DW is a bit more refined.
It is one of the heavier saws, but I see that as a plus as well. Blade favorites are Freud & ####.
Good Luck!
John
