I’ve got a basement shop, and am planning on painting the walls and floor. I was wondering if anyone has ever used the product “Dry loc” as a moisture barrier/paint for concrete and cinder blocks. I have two questions:
Will this be alright to paint the floor with?
Which one do you guys recommend? They have an oil based, acrylic based, and a latex based paint, and all are priced differently.
Thanks,
Tom

Latex for me, worked great. I have cement block walls, the house is 20 years old and while we didn't have water we did have humidity. You have to really work to cover and fill all the little nooks and crannies and I did 2 coats. The coverage stated on the can is true 75 sq ft first coat up to 125 for the second. I don't think it's recommended for floors and I think there are other products that would hold up better, i.e. porch & deck, epoxy and so on.
Andy,
Thanks for your input, So what did you use on your floor if you don't mind me asking?

Consumer Reports did an article on waterproofing a few months ago. They tested both (among others) and recommended the latex. It was one of those uncommon times where the alternative that was the less expensive and the safer was also the most effective.
Actually, the latex Dry-Loc is more expensive than the oil or latex versions. At least it was at the local Lowes. Home Depot only carried the latex. Thanks for your reply.
