I am glueing a small flat piece of maple 2″ wide by 1/8″ thick by 6″ long to the face of a piece of birch ply so the maple will lie flat on the birch. The birch ply has been finished with a wipe on poly. The maple side to be glued will be unfinished. What is the best glue to use? Polyurethane such as gorilla glue or some other? Thanks

I'd use construction adhesive- works well and is a lot cheaper than gorilla glue.
I would scarify the surface for better adhesion. Doesn't have to be the entire area right up to the edge either. And then you can use regular wood glue.
