I am building a shed. I need to buy a router bit that will cut a joint in the post.
There are two different router bits up spiral and down spiral by Freudtools.
Which one I should buy, taking into consideration that I am using this bit in removing wood from treated wood?

Thank you for your feedback.

Normally a circular saw is used to cut lap joints on such a project. The saw is set to cut the depth you want and a series of cuts are made side by side, about 1/4" apart. Use a hammer to break out the cuts, then use a chisel to clean up any remaining waste. If I was to use a router bit, it would be an ordinary straight one, not a spiral.
Upspiral bits pull chips from the cut, for example a mortise. Down spiral bits push chips down into the cut.
I find I use my upspiral bits more for general routing, pattern cutting, and mortising.
Hope this helps.
