White Aniline dye?
I am trying to match an exising stain (on birch) with an aniline dye mix. The color to match is called “Heritage Blue” which is a light grey-blue mixture.
Using aniline dyes, I find it virtually impossible to match the color with blue and black without some white in the mix.
Is there a white aniline dye available, or if not, how could a compatible dye be added to the mixture to lighten the tone?
Any help appreciated !!

Arbutus : You can get white mixol tints ( universal tinters) form Woodcraft. These tints will mix with pretty well anything and since they are compatible with shellac I assume they will be fine with your aniline mixture. Check out jeff Jewitts site, Homestead. Woodcraft also has the "Border Free" system for Canadians which reduces the duty ripoff.
Good luck
