Turns out I’m going to have a whole bunch of extra timbers for my timberframe.
At least 14 6×6 18+ feet long, plus a fair number of 8 1/2 footers and some 4×6’s anybody want to come and look at them and make me an offer?
Nope! I won’t deliver! best offer takes the package unless there is no real interest in a package deal in which case I’ll sell them singlarly..
The sell it now price is $250. in case you’d like to start building your own timberframe..
PS I’ll be selling my timber framing tools later this spring as well!

Selling your tools? Does that mean you will never timber another frame? Wait a minute, I get it now. Next time you are going to buy new tools! :-) JL
jeanlou,
Nah it's my way of passing on the craft..
I figure I'll sell my tools for about 1/2 what their replacement will cost and somebody will pick them up and make themselves a timberframe home and sell them for about what they cost to buy (pro's use these tools to build hundreds of timberframes so they should be still in good shape) That way they can build their timberframe for little more than the sawmill price of a few timbers..
IN fact if some person were to get a good deal on the price of wood and shop wisely they could build themselves a fabulous timberframe fro less than the cost of a small stick built house..
Hmmm it sounds familar...

It sounds like your trying to convince yourself that it is wise to timber frame...another.
All kidding aside, you are right about passing on the ability at a reasonable cost...and I think I am right thinking that one day you are going to buy new timber framing tools, and enjoy every minute of doing it. :-)
Be well and enjoy your new home. JL
Where are you located?

Dear Frenchy,
So I don't suppose that you would deliver to CT.Best,John
Let's see frieght to CT. is.... ;-)
Frenchy:Most of my oak is in Illinois, but I do have a place north of you and always go through Minneapolis on the way up. However, it will be late May before I head back up there. If you still have them at that time, I'd be very interested in seeing the tools and possibly making an offer, and if you have not sold the wood, I might have a shot at that, too.
