Hello all I purchased this plane on a lark on e-bay and was wondering who made it. The blade is stamped Buck bro’s. cast steel and is very thick with a laminated construction. The plane body is a rather course cast iron with a cast iron blade clamp that is held to the body with a steel cross pin. The plane has no chip breaker. Another thing I can’t figure out is that if the blade is installed bevel down with the logo face up it the mouth is to tight and the edge won’t clear the casting and if you install the blade bevel up the bevel is at a very steep angle but the mouth is very open. I was wondering if this is some sort of scrub plane. The blade is 1.5″ wide and the plane is about 11 inches long. Anyway your comments would be appreciated.

Troy,
I suggest you read the last rites to that one before it is too late. (small joke).
I think you are right:)Troy
Troy,
Googled buck brothers plane and found this. Not a glowing picture from the owner. I have an old Buck Brothers 1½" bench chisel that does not hold an edge very well at all.

As the author of the linked-to photograph, I'd like to clarify that the plane in question is of recent manufacture, and one that I purchased new at a certain home improvement big box retailer. Their older products might very well be better.
Then again, for my time and money, I wish I'd just bought my Lie-Nielsen No.4 to start out with and saved all the time and the fuss.
I agree my LN #4 is a really nice tool.Troy
If you really want to know get Roger Smith's books. Buck irons were found on many planes. Roger is the experts on patented metal planes and has seen plenty of the one off custom planes that were made.
ThanksTroy
Buck Brothers was a top quality tool maker comparable to Stanley back in the "old days". Here is some info:
