Any one out there know if there is such an animal as a folding pocket door system?
I am trying to design a Fireplace surround/Ent.center.
it will be ~6 ft wide but only 17in. deep on the narrow side(trapezoidal in plan) and 36-37″ on the deep side.
How can I make a pocket door that wil cover a big TV and still fold/slide out of the way?
Thanx in advance.

You'd need a bi-fold door hinge that swings 180 both ways. If the opening is 6', then the carcass depth should be at least 18", 19 or 20" is better. This hinge should be able to wrap around so the door can wrap around the carcass. Of course pocket door slides are necessary. Just my opinion- others may have different ideas.
Check the Rockler catalog for supplies.

I don't know of a pre-existing "system," but I devised the multi-door system for the media center in the attached photos. It has tri-fold pocket doors covering a 50-inch flat screen TV in shallow cabinet. Door number one is hung on pocket door hardware, door two is attached to it with spring-loaded butt hinges, and door three is hung on number two with Soss invisible hinges. The pocket hardware is heavy duty, with two Euro style hinges top and bottom. Adjusted correctly, the doors don't need pulls or catches. The pockets are shallow, on each side of an outdoor fireplace box, so the doors had to be narrow.

Tambor doors. Kinda like the top of a roll-top desk, but sideways.
