I seem to remember some of you here being knowledgeable about guns. I saw some products in a woodworking catalog for lubricating, sealind and preventing rust on saw tables and such. Would these work to protect guns? Could it hurt the gun? I was thinking of “Top-Cote,” “Boeshield T-9,” or “Slipit.” Anyone used any of these or similar products on guns? (Don’t want to take a chance it would ruin the bluing or something.) Seems like they would really protect a gun–maybe even the bores?
This all started when I wanted to store my gun in a fireproof box and saw it wasn’t recommended because such boxes have a high moisture content for the fire protection and will rust guns. So I thought why not protect the gun with some oil and then seal it in a plastic bag with some silica gel. That led me to the products mentioned above.

I frequent gun forums and have learned tht Rem Oil is the best for firearms. Many test samples of steel where treated with various lubes and subjected to extreme weather. Rem Oil was the winner.
Thanks for the info. I'll look for it.
