I recently had the idea of building wood shutters (after seeing the price tag for pre made shutters) for the inside of our sunroom. I have the article from FFW from a couple of years ago. They demonstrated how to make the louvers that go in the shutters. Does anybody know where to find pre-made louvers?? or even pre-made kits?? I feel very compotent in making the frame for the shutters but, don’t wish to spend the time on the louvers.

Dab , The 'Blinds are the easiest part
of louvered shutters,
BUT! milling the slanted mortises into
the stiles requires some expertise.
I'm presuming you only need the stationary type
(As opposed to the adjustable type)
In the past, When a job called for odd sized blinds
on bi- fold doors, I found it easier to buy the
Narrowest sized blinds and cut the tops and
bottoms off to utilize the vertical stiles
and then make my own slats and rails.
Be sure to make many extra slats, as some will twist in a day or so and must be discarded.
I used to install those custom doors as sliding accordian type or bi-fold closet doors and learned that dust gets into the closets unless you cover the insides with 1/8" baltic birch ply.

I bought and assembled these about 5 years ago.

Very nice quality and easy to put together.
Enjoy.
