Hi, I’m in the precess of finishing (for the last couple of mos.) and old oak table. I want to thank all of you for the help that you have given me. And now , I have more questions. I am trying to get a semi-gloss finish on the table top. I have been using minwax poly but decided to try wiping on the most recent coat. I reduced the poly with naptha (I’m not working in a pristine environment and liked the quick drying time). The varnish wiped on nicely but when it had dried it was closer to a satin finish rather than a semi. Also, it didn’t ‘feel’ good. My hand didn’t glide over it and want to touch it. Any suggestions? Should I thin it with something beside naptha? What won’t change the gloss? Thanks in advance, Su
