I am looking for shelf supports in the form of wire. A customer showed me a picture from a company in Miami called Bon Vivante that used it. There are three shelves one above the next, made from glass. They are not attached to anything but the wire. There are three holes in the glass with the wire running from floor to ceiling and some type of grommets or stops directly above and below each glass shelf. It looks like some type of suspension wire. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

The sort of cable used for rigging yachts, etc, would do -- try a marine stores.

Some users and suppliers of multistrand cable prefer to call it wire rope, so include that term in your search.
It sounds like a very clean look. I've considered a similar design, with wooden shelves and relatively small diameter pipe or tubing for the uprights.
I once owned and sailed a small boat. I'd suggest you look at using 1/8 or 3/32 multi strand multi lay stainless steel wire rope. You can get it at most boating stores. As stops I'd suggest small nickel swages clamped either side of the shelf.
Y'mean like this? http://www.fixturepronto.com/cabletop.htm or http://www.displayunlimited.com/cablesys.htm
Exactly! Thank you very much.
