Here is a book some of you might enjoy looking at and letting your jaw drop. If you like fine woodworking and other handwork, this might be of interest. Months ago I posted a couple pictures of the work of Frank House. He closed his site and the pictures were off the radar. Don’t know the whole story but the book cover has the indian head he shaped out of wood and covered with segmented bone. Frank is a monster kentucky rifle builder and his wife does some amazing bead work. Well if you have some extra money or somebody wants to buy a birthday present for you .. maybe this would work. See the attached photo of the book’s cover. Narrative from the book: Features the work of over 100 artisans who continue to create the longrifles and accoutrements of the American frontier period. Available in hardcover, 230 pages, 8-1/2″ X 11″, ISBN 978-1-880655-21-4. | ||

dan,
Dang he closed his WEBsite!? Been there several times but quite a while ago though. Hope all is OK.
Still see visions from the videos you graciously loaned me, of the dog barking in the background, rooster crowing and a man performing amazing artistry with a hunk of maple in his woodshop, where you could see through the walls.
I think everyone should see those at least once.

Don't feel bad Bob. Here's another guy who's been around forever. His name is Gary Brumfield. He followed Wallace as the Gunsmith Shop master in the early 70's. Gary has been the Guru organizing the rifle building seminars each year out in Western Kentucky University. The courses always fill up and they are really concentrated. Anyway, take a look at some of the early stuff Wallace built I think you'll enjoy it. Remember this was before the bug hit the masses in the early 70's and leading up to the Bicentennial Revival.
dan,
I heard a rumor that there was a softcover edition of that book forthcoming. I had the pleasure of attending the CLA meeting in Louisville KY a couple years back, and was blown away by the high level of workmanship on display there.
