I’m hoping to use some shop sawn veneers as wood tiles on a small tabletop I’m making, 16 x 18″. I’m wondering if anyone has suggestions about what to use as “grout” that will allow a little expansion and contraction of the tiles, and yet look good. The tiles will be 1/16-3/32″ thick. They will be glued down to a baltic birch substrate, which will be veneered on the bottom side as well. Any suggestions about what glue to use would also be appreciated. Thanks in advance for any suggestions. Erin

Use epoxy with a heavy mix of fine sawdust, like from a sander, to create the grout. The epoxy will also work well for the gluing of the 'tiles'.
If the "tiles" are only 1/16 - 3/32" thick I'm not sure there's a need to allow for expansion and contraction.
I agree with DonStephan but would emphasize that 3/32 would be about the maximum thickness and I'd be happier with 1/16th which is still quite substantial veneer.
