What would be the best wood for building sliding shop door wall cabinets? The case work will be covered by a wooden outer frame, so I was thinking of using birch plywood for the case and birch wood for the trim. However, I have some excess white oak in my stack for the frames and could use oak plywood for the case.
The doors will be wood frames with pegboard panels.
Any comments or other suggestions?
Thanks for the advice,
Brian

It hardly matters. If you have oak, and don't see other more valuable uses for it down the road, use it. You can also use birch ply for the carcasses and oak solid for the frames. Afterall, you are making tools, not furniture. Sturdy is important, grain matching not so much.
