I am struggling to understand what you are asking, but since you mention stringer, I can only assume you are trying to build a staircase. If so your post may be more appropriate and generate more and better responses on Fine Home Buildings forum rather than here.
Got it! lauan plywood. Birch, or cherry. Holds a nice finish, looks good, not too expensive. Does not come up in a google search but a fine woodworker helped narrow down terms.
