Wood Drawer Runners, Groove worn out
I have a beautiful cabinet, where the drawer runners as well as the grooves of all drawers are worn out. I can literally see the saw dust lying on top of – whatever is remaining – of the runners.
My concern is that fixing the grooves and runners will probably lead to the same issue over time. If I did go this route, I was thinking of using a router and removing the material on the top of the groove to get a straight line again and then filling the area with a new piece of wood wood.
I was also considering installing some slim line slides that are supposed to fit in the groove. But the thickness of the drawers is only around 10 mm and there is also almost no clearance between the sides of the cabinet and the drawers. The slim line slides I found need to be recessed around 7mm and then need around 3mm on each side between the drawer and the cabinet.
Third option would be to build new drawers with under-mount slides and just reusing the drawer fronts… for sure the most time consuming and expensive option.
Maybe there is another way to fix this?

Your plan with the router is a good one. You could use harder woods to reduce wear, and wax them from time to time. Time-wise it is unlikely that you'll be dealing with the issue again.
Good plan. Add a thin strip of teflon on top of the new runner. Shouldn’t have to worry about wearing that out.
