We recently built a table top using unfinished wood flooring. We used Stainable wood filler in some of the joints, but it seemed to stain the wood itself.
We stained over it, hoping it would all just stain uniformly. The areas with wood filler are lighter and look wet. We are going to use resin on top, but is there anything we can do to fix the lighter areas or to fix the “wet looking joints”?

You're going to have to sand that first you'll never get it to even out.
Stainable filler is a joke. All the store bout items are crap.
Save the sanding dust from this wood. Do a couple coats of finish. Mix your dust with some finish to make a paste. Fill any gaps with it. Sand it lightly after.
