A few years ago we converted our wood framed screen porch to an art studio. The screen was removed from the spanish cedar wood frame and glass was installed. The glass installer did not seal the wood frame along the floor. I questioned this practice and he said, “If rain water gets in, it needs to be able escape or the frame will stay wet and rot.” As a result, every time there is a heavy rain, the water rolls down the glass, seeps under the frame and puddles on the floor inside the studio. I live in Louisiana and it rains about 60inches per year. It is difficult for me to understand how allowing rain water to seep under a wood frame is a good thing! I would love to hear opinions about whether to seal or leave unsealed. If your opinion is to seal, what product would you use? Help!!!
