I am looking for an old article from Fine Woodworking on building all wood clocks. I seem to recall in the back of my mind that in the late 80’s that FWW ran a 2 part article on building these, but I cannot find which issues this was in. Does anyone else recall this? Anyone happen to know what issue this was in? I would be most appreciative. Thank you. -Richard

Found the answer to my own question. Was FWW #56 and #57 in 1986. Later reprinted in the book Small Woodworking Projects. Now I just need to figure out how to get old copies of those magazines since reprints are not available and my library only has 1997+ issues.
I just did a quick search and Amazon has the book "Small Woodworking Projects" by Fine Woodworking for $11.17 and the table of contents lists "Designing Wooden Clockworks - Movements and how they work" as one of the chapters. Can't you get reprints or the book from The Taunton Press?

Look on eBay. There are a couple of groupings with both issues and several with one of them alone or with other issues. And prices are noticeably lower than when I was completing my collection. :( The search string I used was
"fine woodworking" (56,57)
Note no space after the comma.
I have a Spring 1978 Issue that has an article on wood clockworks. Some good design information. The article inspired me to complete a Thomas Clock that I started in the early 70's. If you cannot find this issue I would be happy to photocopy this article and mail to you.
