Not ash. The flecks on the side look a bit like rubberwood.
It is commonly used in these manufactured boards and is a staple of Ikea.

Yup. It's not a NA native tree. See it in tons of imports.
The name’s rubberwood but it isn’t rubbery or soft. Being durable, it’s common in furniture making. In addition to being strong and flexible, it also provides good resistance to fungi, bacteria, and mold. But this wood is more common in industrial furniture because of its dense and coarse grain.
