A coworker has an ash wood hutch over his TV that needs to be heightened by 4 inches. I was planning on making the extensions out of plywood and attaching with either pocket holes or long screws from the bottom, however, the piece of ash I have is wider than 4 inches so I could use the long grain of the ash instead of plywood (and stain to match).
Any issues with using the ash instead of the plywood? The extension piece dimensions would be 15 in. x 4 in. x 3/4in. thick.
Thanks,
Brian

by 'over' do you mean to say the tv is inside it?
Yes - the TV sits on a base, and the hutch is a frame that surrounds the TV. The sides of the hutch are too short, so I need to add to the height of the sides of the hutch.
