I read a number of people talking aboug leigh, keller and other jigs. Has anyone used a woodrat. The company seems to be advertising a bit more aggressively than I’ve seen lately.

I have some info about the smaller version of the rat on my web if you are interested. There is also a woodrat forum sponsored by the maker where you might find some useful info in their archives or post a question.

Bob,
Search the archives. There have been previous posts regarding the Woodrat. You can order their promotional video which is very interesting. I have a Leigh jig and love it but if I were doing a large number of M&T's I would seriously consider the Woodrat.

I have had a Leigh dovetail jig and also a woodrat. The Woodrat is far better for dovetails in my opinion and is an excellent mortise and tenon tool. I have given my Liegh jig away. There was a review of it recently in I think, Popular Woodworking. The Woodrat site seems to be unavailable at the moment, but it is sold in this country by the Craftsmen's Gallery. I think it is http://www.chipsfly.com

Hi Bob. I have seen demonstrations of the Woodrat and it is a very clever tool.
However, here in the UK the price is about the equivalent of $1075 which is a bit steep considering that you still have to buy the router cutters and a few other accesories. I had a look at the tool in our local suppliers and thought, "that is not much for a lot of money". But there again if I were rich!!!!!!!!!!!!

Greetings from Michigan USA. It seems as though Woodrat has put out alot more advertisement. I'll have to get the video for a closer inspection. All the good stuff seems to be pricey know matter where you live. Most, if not all the time, it pays off in the long haul to buy the best you can. See you later Woodsy, nice to have met you even if its in cyberspace! Bob.
