Hi,
I’m in the process of getting new wood sash windows for my historic house. They will be single pane with storm window.
I have no space for weight and puley. What is the second best balance system?
Are tape balance good (that’s what i’ve been adviced)?
Are block and tackle better?
What are my other options?
Thanks,

You are in the wrong place with that question. Speak to a custom builder or high end home building supplier.
The lighter weight of single glazed sash makes them easier to balance. Will you be using jambliners that allow the sash to be tilted for cleaning? Some historic districts won't allow these. They are what is generally used with wood sash, and they are designed to work with block and tackle balances. In industry, they are typically fabricated by the supplier and brought into the assembly operation as a package.
