I’m making hardwood cutting boards and want more color than just maple. I would like to add some walnut, purpleheart, and padauk but was recently told they were toxic. I understand the dust is/may be toxic, but is it a bad idea to use these woods in a cutting board?

Here are a couple of links for you to check out, for general info on toxicity. I know a very fine woodworker in WA that uses walnut regularly for cutting boards, FWIW.
