If I can remember correctly, there is a company in Kentucky, called Bob Morgan, (or something like that) that had thick veneer like you're looking for.
That's if I'm remembering correctly.
Can you build up to the 1/16th???

What species and how much do you need ?
Go to http://www.certainlywood.com
The have quite a few types of 1/16" veneer.
A local cabinetmaker may be able to help. If you still can't find it then I could saw some up if you like, just let me know what you need and I can let you know if I can do it for you.
