I am sure I will be of no help to you but I 'think' I recall something from Incra tools that gave instructions using their hinge drill thing. Not sure!
"flip-open box from one piece of wood" by Daniel Mosheim
I have made several of these... I got the the article from the fine wood working techniques books #4 page 191. I don't have the magazines but according to the book it relates to issues 20-25.
Hope this is the one you are looking for.

Sorry for the tardy reply to your post but I have been busy salvageing a 1920s era church building .Thanks for the help,I looked through my back issues and found the article I was searching for in volume 25 on page63.I am anxious to give it a go.I plan to make several as gifts to some special people.I was wondering if you ever had any of yours laser inscribed? It seems that would mafe a beautiful presentation.Again thanks for your help and look forward to hearing from you in the future.

As an aside have you found a source for wood business card stock. I have perforated paper 8.5 x 11 sheets that can be printed on a PC but have yet to find same in wood form.
Regards,
cardsofwood.com has printable veneers - not perforated but I'm sure a woodworker could figure out how to manage that.
Wood magazine December 1990 has one I've used.
Thanks Diz,
Appreciate yur help.
Regards,
I was looking for the same thing, a hidden wood hinge for another project. I ended up buying a wooden card holder from Amazon. It was around $16.00. Its just box joints that have a hinge pin drilled down the center of the joint. The box joints are rounded just enought to pass each other. That leaves a 1/16" gap with this design. It does not look too bad. A wood cap holds the hinge pin in place. It looks to have been made functional then sanded to even it out. The case is 4.375" x 3" x .375" outside and 3.750" x 2.187" x .125" inside. I could e-mail you a picture. I'm not able to post. (that would be from lack of trying). Hope this helps.
