Anyone have a plan or idea on a good approach for a wooden doormat? I think I recall seeing one in FWW some years back maybe. I can find a few examples (pictures) on the net, but nothing definitive. Is teak the best wood for such a project? Thanks.

Logsend, If you rip the Teak wood strips lets say 5/8"wide and 7/8"high, then make a series of equally spaced half laps 5/8" wide"x 7/16" deep , they will interlap and form an open grid or, grille effect
The outer four pieces (Border) can be ebony or similar darker wood.
To acheive a nice 'Shadow' effect, chamfer the square holes with a small 45% chamfer router bit Stein.

I saw a wooden mat,the other day at an Art and craft show.
the person used wooden slats peg together with copper pins, the mats bent and folded up.
this mat was made up of 3"X1"x3/4" PEICES of teak.(nothing fancy but verry nice looking)
I hope this helps, at least its a starting point,to think about.
sincerely. C.A.G.
