I recently saw a custom turned wooden hair pin on ebay. What was interesting about it was that it stated the end was a stabilized pine cone which was filled with crushed oyster shell. It looked rater sharp. Any thoughts on how to stabilize a pine cone for turning? My only guess would be one of the stabilizer solutions for rotted wood.

Do you still have the ebay post?
No sorry I do not. It was some time ago, I typed in hair pins, and then looked for a seller called graydog.
