I'm don't have experience with other cyclones, but the Woodsucker is pretty loud. I placed mine in a small shed attached to my shop. I managed to supress most of the sound with insulation and soundproofing board. You can also hook up 8" insulated, flexible duct to use as silencer.
Onidiea owner here and the unit itsself is quiet, but the air noise at some machines can get loud.

He does seem to say that it's louder than competitors, but it's worth looking elsewhere on his site for info on quieting things down.
