Can anyone tell me about the quality of Woodtek Planers? Have a party trying to sell me one and I don’t know much about the brand. Please help. Thanks

Dave,
I've had one since 2001, when I bought it at the same price as a Grizzly 20" planer. Back then, the Woodtek parts person said the specs were higher quality than Grizzly's. It's held up well and to the point that I decided to order a Byrd Helical cutter head and combination new gear box. It should make installation so much easier and 3 times faster.
I've found that the same part ordered as a Powermatic is priced higher than the identical part sold on a Jet tool.... The original 20" planer had only one infeed and one outfeed roller. I wanted two more on each end to carry the weight of thicker stock. I found that Grizzly was a 1/4 cheaper on those parts than Woodtek's company, Woodworker Supply.
I'd say that if I were to do it again, I'd go with a 5hp motor rather than the 3hp Woodtek has just because it's not much more cost, if any, and would better handle the Helical cutterheads. If this is your first big planer, and as always the shop budget is limited, it would all depend on how cheap and how good of shape the Woodtek planer is....

I have a woodtek sp-20. Does anyone have a cutterhead diagram for it? I'm trying to get a helical cutterhead for it but I'm having trouble finding one to fit it
