I’ve been looking for a good used contractors saw for a while now. Haven’t been able to find one that’s close enough to go look at (seems like 75% of the saws on ebay are in California). For about the same price I was planning on spending on a used saw, I noticed I could get a new Woodtek from Woodworkers Supply.
Are these saws any good? I am just getting into woodworking and might use it two days a month. I don’t even know if I’ll really get “into” it once I start, so I’m hesitant to spend the big bucks. I built a bookcase for my sons room using a benchtop Craftsman table saw that I’ve already sold at a garage sale and enjoyed that.
Thanks.

That saw is very similar to the new Grizzly G0444Z, which also sells for $600+Shipping. I really like the looks of this saw, and would trust Grizzly and the ShopFox fence, based on user reviews in the forums.
If you wanted to get the price down closer to $500 (delivered) you could consider the Grizzly G0444 with a 1.5HP motor (instead of 2HP) and stamped steel wings instead of cast iron.
Just a thought, as these saws are new and I first saw them in the Christmas flyer yesterday. Here are the links:

Thanks.
After reading through the other thread about table saws I purchased a Ryobi BT3100. I think it will serve well for hobbyist work, plus cant beat the price and availability.
Hi Mark. Good decision for your level of use, and there are some good sites "out there" with ideas for jigs and fixtures to use on the Ryobi TS. Have fun!forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
