Anyone visited the WWW web site lately? I just did and guess what? They are filing Chapter 11 and liquidating all the store assets. Guess I’ll be going to my local store to see if I can get a good deal on a cabinet saw.
Real sorry to see them go though. I found those stores useful for getting some items I had a hard time finding. I’ll miss it.

Bill,
Yeah I know what you mean.. Not that I was the biggest fan of WW, but sometimes there is much to be said about actually being able to go somewhere to actually touch and feel what you are going to spend you money on. I live in central NJ and there are frightently few places you can buy power tools (Force Machinery is the only place I know of locally) as for quality hand tools it's all mail order.
I was in Colorado Spring Co. on a business trip recently and had the good pleasure to visit a Woodcraft store in the Springs.. I had all I could do to contain myself..Closest Woodcraft is 50 miles away, in a western suburb of Philadelphia.
Yes, its too bad but given the lack of customer service and knowledgeable sales force, I'm not surprised. I have been in several of their stores and they were all the same. My local hardware stores and lumber yards have the notion that if they don't have it, you probably don't need it and there's no use in asking. So I'm stuck with HD for emergencies, the internet with good planning, or an hour each way (with no snow or ice) to Syracuse.
But all that said, I'm on my way to make one last stab at a good deal!

If anyone is looking for a truly good deal at the WW liquidation sales you may be disappointed. I stopped at my local store yesterday and the discounts are only 5% off normal price. Maybe as the days pass the discounts will improve.
A 5% off Liquidation Sale. They can't even go out of business correctly!
I got a 10% discount off the price of the Dewalt 746 saw last Saturday in a Woodworkers Warehouse. Everything in the store was 10% off. Basically got the cast iron extensions for free.

My local store also is offering 10% off.
My question is this -- should I wait a little longer? Maybe the sales will get to 20% or 25%, or even better. Then again, maybe there won't be much left after the first couple of weeks.
My biggest concern is if something were to go wrong with the machine. Woodworker's Warehouse is saying that "all sales are final." Do the manufcturer's have the same warrantees no matter what? If so, then I guess there's no risk.
All manufacturers offer manufacturer's warrantees. The manufacturer will honor their own warrantee. Woodworker's Warehouse would be out of the picture and you would deal directly with the manufacturer.
