Woodworking Activities in Tuscany/ Florence Area
I am traveling to Tuscany for a few days in March and was wondering if anyone had experience with woodworking-specific experiences in the area. I am talking about anything from museum with furniture exhibits to tool designations (like Lie Nielsen HQ in Maine), and everything in between. I figured with the amount of old villas and winemaking going on in that area that there would be a strong woodworking community. Any recommendations welcome! Thanks.

One thing to look for in Northern Italy in the line of woodworking is intarsia panelling from the Renaissance era. Examples are pretty widely found. In Florence the best example is in the Cathedral (Duomo) in the Sacristy of the Mass. In Urbino, a town a town a couple of hours east of Florence, is a magnificent room (the "studiolo" or study) done completely in intarsia in the Ducal Palace, now a museum and an architectural wonder in its own right. This town is lovely, relatively off the beaten tourist track, a beautiful side trip, was home to Raphael, with a good art collection in the museum as well. Enjoy your trip!!
