Hello All,
I came across an interesting website recently. Check it out at www.irsauctions.com They are an industrial liguidator of factories and facilities. I’ve seen some pretty good deals on woodworking machines recently. Some of it is more than us hobbyists need but other stuff is just what the doctor ordered. For example, today I saw a Tannewitz table saw for $125.00 and a skid of 17 Bessey cabinet clamps for around $100.00. I believe you have to make your own shipping arrangements, but I saw some really great stuff here. Of course…caveat emptor! Check it out.
Regards,
BillB

Being from Southwest VA, unfortunately a lot of those are from southside VA and NC. It's sad to see all the furniture going the way of the dodo. Basset furniture, Hooker, Lane, Pulaski etc. I've watched this site for a long time and seen some cool stuff that I could not go get or I'd do it. A lot of the stuff will be three phase that will add cost to deal with. Cool to watch.
If it moves, tax it. If it keeps moving, regulate it.
And if it stops moving, subsidize it.
I went to an auction several years ago where you could see this guy really loved his woodworking. A lot of turnings, some handmade equipment, boxes of woodworking books, a 3 stall garage that obviously had been busy everyday of this retired man's life. I don't know how long before this he passed on, but his wife was there gloating at all the money coming in from this man's passion that she'd probably squander at the hairdresser, boutiques and casino.
Hey, man I hope when I pass on ,and the odds of her outlasting me is high, that she sells everything I ever owned and throws one hell of a party and has a great time with our friends there. One last party on me! She's Irish and wants an Irish wake if she goes first which I will happily supply. We both agreed to be cremated (pardon the sp) and we each have instructions on where to spread the ashes. For me its an overlook somewhere on the appilachian trail at the base of a cherry tree. I told her if she spent a lot of money on my furneral I'd haunt her for eternety! Certain pieces will go to the kids but thats about it. I doubth she'd do an acution she'd sell each piece and enjoy the dickering, but she'd be ok, because she knows what they are worth. I'd be up above (I hope) laughing at the poor soul thinking they were going to get an awsome deal :)The nine most terrifying words in the English language are, 'I'm from the government and I'm here to help.' - Renaldus Magnus
I admire your acceptance of the inevitability of death, I'm not there yet. I went to an auction today of some poor soul that in his 50's was diagnosed with cancer and died one week later. Judging from the items in the auction he had a lot of projects in the works. I guess that isn't true that a long list keeps you alive.
wow!
