Does anyone have any woodworking blogs they read (or write, for that matter) that they would recommend?

What's a blog anyway ?
SA
Um...thanks for that tidbit of info Westchester. This forum is great.
I find blogs allow one person to get a little deeper into different topics and it sometimes opens up people (myself included) to other points of view, techniques, etc.
Rob,
I have a blog, but it has never lived up to my expectations, or more accurately I have not lived to to my expectations. I need to update it more frequently, but as often as not I have nothing to add to the already voluminous information out there.

Rob,
For what it's worth. I
Rob,
For what it's worth. I have always enjoyed and appreciated your blog. I still click through from time to time, looking for Part 4 on the Breakfront. The information you provide comes from a very interesting and unigue point of view.
It's not about the volume, it's about the quality and yours is first rate.

Frank,
Thanks!
I just finished writing the 4th entry on the breakfront, all it needs proofreading so it will be up sometime on Sunday.

Rob,
I'm starting a blog soon
Rob,
I’m starting a blog soon called ‘Beyond These Woods’. The first entry will be about the journey I took building a Maloof style rocking chair.
Don
Sounds good, Don.
Let us know when it's up.
And I'll check out your blog, Rob.
I have a site on which I ramble on about woodworking stuff. People call it a blog. That would be the second link in my signature.
Good blog. I also am an IN-N-OUT burger addict, however I live in So. Cal and can have one anytime. It's a good life.
BTW,why doesn't Lee valley sell the actual plane at the shows instead of mailing it to the purchaser? I want to buy it and walk out with it.
Maybe I'll see you next time you're down here at a show.
Again, nice blog.
Jim
Jim,
Glad you enjoyed the read. While writing that piece on IN-N-OUT, realized that I was using it as a metaphor for Lee Valley. You probably understand what I mean. Both are "destinations", but only have so many locations (unlike McDonalds). One of the most frequent questions I get is, "When are you going to open a store in _______?" You can get an IN-N-OUT burger whenever you like. I can go to LV whenever I like. Too bad IN-N-OUT doesn't do mail order.
I don't know the entire story about why LV doesn't sell product at the shows and don't really want to get into it here, but it is definitely simpler for the staff working the show, I can tell you that much.
James.. I do believe LV does sell at the shows but.. they ship it at no charge at that point. It cost a fortune to rent floor space at a show.. cost of personel to work the space.. travel to and from.. meals.. etc. etc.
Now consider just how many items LV has. Just how many of each item do you take to a show? So with LV having a large and diverse product list.. just how many tractor trailers do they need to get it there.. additional personel to unload and set it up.. load it back up and transportation cost to and from?
Get the point... justification for transporting and related cost make it much easier to just take a show item and display it.. then take orders and ship quickly from the inventory source at no charge. You can see and use the planes there but....
Having worked for a machine manufacturer at IWF in Atlanta in 2007.. I fully understand why they do what they do. The booth alone at that show for a 60' x 30' show was around $60,000. I want get into what it cost to transport over 40 large WW'ing machines.. set them up.. tear them down and get em back home.. etc.
Regards...
LV at the shows usually gives you 10% and free shipping if you order there that is the best deal I have gotten.
I have a wimpy Tampa show but you can play with all the toys.
