I am looking for an excellent source on how to work with and maintain woodworking planes. Additionally, any excellent titles on joinery would be helpful as well.

welcome to knots, such as it is of late.
recently a friend here on knots recommended david finck's book "making and using wooden planes". you might want to take a look. my favorite joinery book has been, and continues to be, tage frid's "joinery: tools and techniques". my copy of that book dates to 1980. perhaps it's been upgraded since.
