Hi Folks,
I though I’d pass along this little experience. I received an inquiry via e-mail about a dining table. The subject linewas innnocent and promising enough as was the beginning of the inquiry, but as I finished reading through the inqiry it seemed pretty shaky-. So I “Googled” the first phomne number and sure enough it is a likely scam.
So for all you budding furnituremaking entrepreneurs-beware– all that glitters is not gold…..

Below is the e-mail I received. You can enter the phone number into a search engine and see what comes up…
Hi,
I want to buy a beautifully made 6 seater dinning table that can accomodate 6 persons.
A Solid Oak Oval Table with a single pedestal with a 25ml thick top of size: 150 long x 90
wide x 75Ht cm. no particular design, any simple and moderate one will do. How much will
it cost me? Where are you located? I will be paying by cheque and as a matter of urgency
i want it done as fast as possible.Do you have a ready made table that matches what i want
or similar to it for immediate sales and delivery? If yes, please send the picture to me
via internet and the price.Or you will start working on it now? How many weeks will it
take you to complete it?
In view of this, i will demand for your names[as you want it to appear on the cheque]and
address[where to send it to].
My shipper will come to your showroom/workshop/office as the case maybe, for collection.
So, you don’t need to add delivery expenses.
Hoping to read from you soon.I can be contacted on this number +447040121372,+447031942679,+447031942651.

A kick save and a nice one!
O.K. so I miss hockey, it was still a good pickup on your part!
I work in the software industry and must delete 15 to 30 e-mails a day that get past the spam blocker! A lot of these bogus e-mails seem like they were translated from another languge using a cut-rate translation program.
Anything that sounds too easy, likely is too easy. This sounds similar to scams that turn up from time to time on classified websites like craigslist.org. If you go into their scams and fraud's section, it describes scenarios just like this one. Good catch. The more we spread the word on scams, the less people will be caught by them.
