I would be interested as long as it is not just a place for folks to stand around and drink punch and brag!

Probably thought that you got rid of me. But seriously, I know of a group called Chicago Turners. Look up online under woodworkers guild.
Drop in on the Chicago Furniture Designers Association (http://www.cfdainfo.org) and they might be able to point you in the right direction.
