John, you might also want to post over at WWA:

These guys ('n gals, of course) tend to get together on a local basis during WWing shows and such, and might be a good place to find out about a local club.
forestgirl -- you can take the girl out of the forest, but you can't take the forest out of the girl ;-)
I am in the Philadelphia area, and looked for one, without success. BEst I could do was Allentwon, the Lehigh Valley Woodworkers Guild. It has a site. I joined, and went to two meetings last year with great presentations. It was worth the drive. Good luck.
s4s: I backed into their site accidentally a few weeks ago when doing some research on the T-S aligner. Looked like a high quality organization.
Wished I still lived back in that area so I could attend a meeting. s4s, actually I grew up in Northeast Philly and went to school in Bethlehem. Neat part of the country. Was back there a few weekends ago for a family party. Sorry for being off topic.
Am looking for a woodworking club in the Chicago North Shore area (Lake Forest, IL) if anyone is listening in.
I would check your local hard wood lumber co.
I would check any of your store that sells wood working tools.
I would check with the high school wood working teacher.
I would check with any local lumber co.
By checking I mean pick up the phone and call and ask these people and business if they knew of any wood working clubs. Most clubs are not clandestine ordinations. They want new members.
Great suggestions!

Ditto fredsmart.. And if you absolutely, positively cannot find one at that point, we are counting on you to start one. It's hard to imagine Chicago without one. ha..ha..
Good luck...
