Woodworking Fundamentals A new 3-month learning journey guided by Fine Woodworking Editors
I came across an advert within FWW.com for a three month program of weekly emails designed for newer woodworkers. The premise is that each week’s email will focus on a particular woodworking aspect and include links to relevant FWW content. It indicated that this was put together by Mike Pekovich and Amanda Russell. $19.99 for the three months and then an auto-renew at $100/annually (essentially an Unlimited Memebership). I am an unlimited member. I teach high school shop and have additionally volunteered to mentor one of the students one-on-one for the year. The student’s parent bought an Unlimited Membership for him. Does anyone know how to get signed up for the Woodworking Fundamentals program for existing Unlimited Members?
Thanks, Fred Van Etten

I was wondering the same thing, I’m an online member and would certainly like to listen in. I would think it’d be available to current members. I asked customer service via email, haven’t heard back.
I was thinking the same thing. This applies to me as well.

Me too!
I really should know the answer to this but don't... hang tight!
Sounds like that is part of our "phase 2" rollout. Of course, it will be free for existing members. We'll likely send out an email when it's available.
Ben - thanks for jumping on this. Much appreciated.
Thanks Ben... when?
Not sure yet.
Thanks Ben!
Excellent news ;-)
Awesome! So excited for this.
Ben - I saw the promo video by Mike P. Please check on process for sign-up for existing Unlimited members. Thanks, Fred
It's in the works. They had to wait for an update or something.
Ben,
As an unlimited access member, can I expect to get an email when we are allowed to sign up? Any updates?
It's going to likely be another 2-3 weeks.
I'm a print subscriber and just signed up/paid for this program. I can't find anything on the site about it now though, other than the advertisement for the program. Should I just expect something to arrive by email? Am I correct in understanding you that it's not up and running yet? I spoke to someone on the phone and they seemed unsure of how it works, but said it is different than just an unlimited subscription.
Update: Just got the first weekly email. It looks like a lot of great info!
I am confused. I have unlimited but this, and more courses ask for additional payments?
It's sadly not available to current members yet. It's a curation of content so you're not missing anything you don't already have access to. They're fixing it so current members can sign up for the journey. I'll check in on the progress of that.
Elearning courses are an entirely different thing. They're basically online classes and are an added cost.

Hi Ben, It's early November and as an Unlimited Member I still do not see anything about being able to sign into the Woodworking Fundamentals program. I've been watching this since August, but still no access. Please advise as to any progress.
I've been waiting / watching for any updates as well, though I've kind of given up hope on it. At least there has been indication that it's mainly just guidance toward articles, etc. that are in the member's area, though it would have been nice to get the articles they feel are most helpful / relevant rather than always sorting through on my own.
Its just an extra kick because I failed to see the fundamentals until literally just after I signed up for unlimited, I would have signed up for fundamentals at the same cost as its effectively an unlimited membership if I had seen it first. First world problems though, I suppose.
I'm frustrated and disappointed as well. We're told the machine is moving, but I don't see it either and I don't have a good answer for you right now.
Rich57 is right, if you're a member you have access to everything in the fundamentals journey. It's just the curation that is new.
Ben,
I know that you are frustrated about this, and have no control over it. If I understand you right, this is a list of articles that they recommend? Would it be possible to post the list (since you have to be a member to get to the articles). At least then we could know which articles to look up. I would assume that would be a reasonable workaround from both sides. Of course, the alternative from our standpoint would be to have everyone cancel their all access membership, then re-sign up so we can access the fundamentals journey. I suspect that would be much more of a headache for fine woodworking.
John
Fair enough. If anyone wants to, shoot me an email and I'll forward the links along. I'd rather not let everything live out here on the web for when they do actually get the journey working for members.
