Hi,
Since the Record vises have all but disappeared I’m wondering if anyone has picked up the slack and is producing a quality woodworking vise.
I’ve seen mixed reviews of many including the Arant which I believe is an India co.
Anyone try this one from LV:

I’m looking for a Record 52e type bench vise so any ideas…..
Thanks,

They are knock-offs of the Record. Call LV and ask them if Anant got the molds and are making them in their India production plant. I heard a rumor to that effect, but at this point it is just a rumor as I have not had time to confirm it.

Browse through http://www.wmhtoolgroup.com they have wilton, columbia, and Jet WW vices. The Jet WW vice is Very acceptable/w quick release. The only thing I would change is the wing nut that locks the sliding "bench dog" A three pointed 1/4-20 knob works perfectly.

I have a 53E and an Asian knock off from about 15 years ago, (Grizzly I think), not a huge difference between them. Now my Yost patternmakers vice, well now, there's a vice.
Yost is a grand vise, But I'll stack my Emmert's Type 2 "Iron Hand" up against your Yost ;-) I really lucked out at an Antique Store, believe I got it for $55 if memory serves.

10Saw,
I have the LV Medium Vise and it works good - no issues with it at all.
