Work Table Height for Ridgid Oscillating Edge Belt/Spindle Sander
I built a small work table for my benchtop router as well as one for my benchtop jointer and would like to build one for my Ridgid Oscillating Edge Belt/Spindle Sander.
The tables that I built for the router and the jointer measure 32″ (L) x 24″ (W) x 24″ (H) [approximately 81 cm (L) x 61 cm (W) x 61 cm (H)]. I realize that this depends on personal comfort, but what is the range for work table height for the oscillating sander? I read a post somewhere that said the sander height should be around 39″-40″
The oscillating sander measures 23.9″ (L) x 19.1″ (W) x 19.3″ (H) [approximately 58.4 cm (L) x 48.3 cm (W) x 48.3 cm (H)]. I have included a picture of the work table for the benchtop router (the jointer table is similar).
Thank you for any suggestion that you can give me.

I have that same machine, and as I don’t use it too often, I just set it on my bench which is 35” and it works fine for me (5’ 9”). If I were you I’d go with the same height as your router table. Perhaps pull it off and test your sander on it and see how it feels?
Thank you for the advice.
For comfort while working standing up it is recommended to place the work at elbow level, the table can be an inch or so lower.
Thank you Gulfstar. I will measure the height from ground to elbow and make the necessary adjustments to the work table so that the sander bed falls in that range.
For those kinds of machines, I like to have the work surface of the router table, sander, etc at a height that I don't need to bend or stoop at all. I don't have a number, offhand. But where the machine is doing all the work, I prefer standing straight.
Thank you for the advice John. I will most likely end up measuring the height from ground to my elbow and adjust the table height so that the sander will be in that range.
Mine sits on a small table that is 31" high. I am 5'11" and this height is very comfortable for me, and I do use the machine quite a bit. It was not built for this purpose, just a table I had and it worked.
