I’ve got a small Sjobergs bench and am wondering what surface treatment I should use. I’ve seen linseed oil recommended. How about mineral oil? Any suggestions/opinions would be appreciated.

You might consider a non wax free shellac or a polyuerathane so that it would be easier to scrape dried glue off the surface. Of course none of us here would use our benches as assembly tables :) (he says after just finishing scraping glue of his bench)
Good luck

I use no finish on mine, just flatten and scrape it once or twice a year.
Use none. Once in a while I scrape or sand it. Every once in a great while I take a plane to it.
