   There's a store in Burlington, ON called "Exotic Woods" (maybe Exotic Hardwoods?)that did some laminated hard maple counter tops for us a few years ago.  I know they would ship pretty much anywhere.

   I don't know about custom made workbench tops specific to your needs but check lumberliquidators.com for maple "butcher block" tops.

   Martin,

   If money is no object you can always purchase premade slabs from Lee Valley.  Check their website for bench tops: http://www.leevalley.com

   Also, consider a Birch top.  Depending on where you are in Canada this may be a cheaper, more available wood.  I'm in BC and planning to build one from Birch rather than maple.

   Alaska Wood Industries, something like that....located just outside of Ottawa. That's their specialty.cabinetmaker/college instructor. Cape Breton, N.SWAY too conservative to be merely right wing
